In bed With Designers: 1 week-end, 3 floors, 50 designers: was a brilliant chance to discover unique designs and visionary designers.*
BuyMeDesign launched the first Hong Kong Designers’ Week by hosting a unique concept entitled *In bed With Designers. The first event of its kind in Asia featured:
Pop-up designer sleepover from November 30 to December 1 2013. Talented designers from more than ten countries came to Hong Kong to set up a cozy hotel room to showcase and sell their works with the rest of the city.
A boutique hotel showroom curated by BuyMeDesign began its residence at the Mini Hotel over the weekend.
An evening of design on Saturday 30 November 2013 included a media gathering and tour of designers’ rooms, Design Talk and PechaKucha Night Hong Kong.
BuyMeDesign is passionate about discovering and revealing design gems and supporting emerging designers. We created this event to provide a platform to introduce innovative and creative designers to the expanding Asian market. In bed With Designers is the physical representation of our design curation and is the new destination in Hong Kong to discover, experience and interact with the latest global designs and designers.” – Florence Giraudon, Founder of buyMeDesign??
Across the weekend, buyMeDesign’s carefully curated designers took over the Mini Hotel, created a wonderland of design, just ready for everyone to explore. This was a great chance to seek out and discover new designs and to get really hands on with the creations. Guests had , of course, the unique opportunity to meet, chat, and even get into bed with designers!
A range of some of buyMeDesign’s favourite products from across the globe will be displayed in our own boutique showroom – which will be on display at the Mini Hotel long after the event has finished. Saturday’s evening of design is sure to be a real celebration. A guided tour will take media guests around the various showcasing designers’ rooms. This will be followed by Design Talk where some of the greatest global design minds will tackle the question “What is curation in Asia?” The evening will be rounded off with PechaKucha Night Hong Kong organized by ChowPourianLab.
Among many others to discover, Hubert Verstraeten showcased his Bakelite brand of accessories Tamawa, Xavier Coenen displayed his modular furniture and Studio Banana Things brought the world famous Ostrich Pillow. For Design Talk, BuyMeDesign welcomed international industrial designer Michael Young, Project Director of Hong Kong Design Centre, William To, and fashion, design and architecture blogger Wanderlister, and more.
