It is fitting that Jessica Signell Knutsson has launched her independent design company with a series of “Objects for Books”. After all, books occupy a mental and emotional space in one’s life, far beyond the physical space of a mere object. So too do these tabletop “pedestals” express a more thoughtful approach to objects.

Best known for her work with Asplund, the Swedish industrial designer had worked with several companies before launching her eponymous label, Signell Knutsson, where she does not have to make compromises to meet the demands of mass production. On the contrary, the new projects will only be produced by master craftspeople in limited editions. Rendered in different materials, the “Objects for Books” aptly mark the debut of Signell Knutsson, representing both a research process and the refined outcome. They are available now exclusively through Aybar Gallery Miami.
