Celebrating new edge-cutting material technology and application trends, this edition welcomes the brand new Materials and Applications Hall. One of these talented groups will be awarded the AD Emerging Designers Award.

Alongside the main exhibition the event presents Design Shanghai Features, a number of world-class installations. Among which Apollo by Timothy Oulton Studio, 15 installed capsules throughout the festival which are inspired by the first moon landing.  Zhang Zhoujie returns with Manifesto Cabinet and Zaha Hadid’s work SKYRUNNER is presented. The latter is a collaboration with Royal Thai and Kohler featuring the RE/Form rug collection.

Visitors can continue admiring Chinese design in the Xintiandi Design Festival, which is back for the fourth time. The satellite to the main fair is curated by Hou Zhengguang, Sun Xinxi, Du Xinyue, and Chen Minjuan. Here, the relationship between socializing, design and technology are explored with the theme Back to the Social Origin-Acquainted, Encountered. It provides a public platform for Chinese design and invites 20 local designers and architects.
